Bándits Ambush Oyo Police Patrol, K!ll Inspector in Border Attàck

A police inspector was killed after suspected bandits ambushed a patrol team at the Budo Masalasi border post in Oyo State’s Oriire Local Government Area.

The attack took place during a routine patrol when officers were suddenly confronted by the gunmen, leading to a violent exchange of gunfire.

The inspector sustained fatal gunshot wounds in the shootout. The assailants managed to flee the scene and are reported to have taken one of the officers’ firearms with them.

Police sources have characterized the incident as a deliberate ambush carried out by armed criminals.

In response, the Oyo State Police Command has initiated a search operation to apprehend the attackers and has heightened security surveillance in the border region to forestall any similar assaults.

This fatal encounter occurs against a backdrop of escalating bandit activity in some areas of Oyo State, including recent incidents and threats in neighboring communities such as Oloka within the same local government.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to locate the suspects and have called on the public to maintain vigilance and report any unusual movements or persons to security agencies.
