Arrested Ogun ‘Highway Robber’ Exposes Shocking Link to Police Inspector

The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended a suspected highway robber, Akeem Owonikoko, aged 33, along the Sagamu – Ijebu Ode – Benin Highway. The news comes as a jolt to the community, leaving many stunned.

Omolola Odutola, the Police Spokesperson, confirmed this development in an emotional statement shared with the press in Abeokuta on Sunday.

The daring operation, led by Area Commander ACP Omosanyi Adeniyi, spanned 24 hours and led to Owonikoko’s capture.

However, what truly shocks the senses is the suspect’s confession, alleging that a serving Inspector of Police, only known as Ola, was the sinister source behind the guns used by the criminal gang.

The unfolding saga took a surreal twist when Owonikoko, trying to outwit the pursuing officers, swiftly diverted his Toyota Camry into a nearby alley. Donned in the uniform of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), he attempted to deceive the police. But fate had other plans, leading to his eventual arrest.

The subsequent search of the abandoned vehicle uncovered a chilling assortment of evidence: 32 expended cartridges, 78 live cartridges, and a locally crafted short gun. The web of intrigue didn’t end there, as a search warrant executed at Owonikoko’s residence unveiled even more disturbing finds.

This included another magnum pump action rifle, a double-barrel short gun, a locally fashioned double-barrel pistol, and a sinister arsenal of items ranging from weapons to illicit substances.

The inventory reads like a dark thriller: a liquid chemical, an ominous black beret with the insignia of the notorious Aiye Confraternity, cannabis, hard drugs, ATM cards, a power bank, two Apple wristwatches, cell phones, and an unsettling poisonous charm.

Despite the shocking revelations, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, isn’t resting.

He has ordered his forces to relentlessly pursue the remaining suspects, maintaining an unwavering resolve to cleanse the state of criminal elements.
