Army Storm Crises Areas In Plateau, Arrest Suspects And Recover Weapons (Photo)

In a swift response to the escalating crisis in Mangu, the newly appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 3 Division and STF Operation Safe Haven wasted no time in taking action.

Less than 24 hours after assuming command, the GOC redeployed to the troubled area to conduct an on-the-spot assessment and implement necessary measures to restore normalcy.

Upon arrival, the Commander was greeted by a crowd filled with agitation and tension. However, through effective communication and decisive action, the situation was quickly brought under control.

To further strengthen security in the region, a reinforcement team from Jos, equipped with Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles (MRAPs), was deployed immediately to dominate the hotspots and protect vulnerable communities.

During subsequent operations, the patrol teams displayed remarkable professionalism and successfully deterred further attacks on two vulnerable villages.

Moreover, they achieved a significant breakthrough by recovering five rifles and a substantial amount of ammunition. These operations have undoubtedly dealt a blow to the perpetrators of violence and have increased the safety of the affected communities.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, a delegation from the Plateau State Government, led by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, also paid an assessment visit to Mangu.

The delegation included the Special Adviser on Security to His Excellency, Brigadier General Shipi (retired), the Attorney General, and the Chief Security Officer to the Governor. During the visit, the government officials pledged the full support of the State Government in bringing lasting peace to the affected areas.
