The Appeal Court in Abuja has rule out a lawsuit filed by the Allied Peoples Movement to disqualify Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party.
The judge, Justice Monica Dongban Mensan, ruled that the appeal had no merit and that APM did not have the legal standing to bring the suit.
The court also ruled in favor of the Labour Party and Peter Obi as the second and third respondents and ordered APM to pay a fine of N200,000.
Peter Obi is running for presidency alongside prominent contenders Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party.
As the presidential election in Nigeria on February 25th nears, the northern region has become a focal point for candidates seeking the top job at Aso Rock. They are traveling to the North-West, North-East, and North-Central areas of the region, hoping to secure large voting blocs that number in the tens of millions.
Obi, a former governor of Anambra State in southern Nigeria, and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed from Kaduna in the north, are following suit by taking their presidential campaign to the northern region.
