An 8-year-old student was reportedly beaten into a coma by a 30-year-old teacher, who has now been placed under custody in Anambra state.
Landmark School Mgbakwu in the Awka North Local Government Area where the incident happened has been permanently closed by the state government of Anambra.
Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, the commissioner of education, revealed this to media on Monday at her office.
She had called the owner of the school and the concerned teacher, Faith Nwonye, to give an explanation of what had happened before the two elementary students were brutalized.
Speaking soon after the meeting, Chuma-Udeh clarified that the school’s closure was brought about by its illegality as well as the unpleasant occurrence.
She bemoaned the development and said that the medical doctor had told her that the victim’s odds of survival at the time of admittance to the hospital were just 20%.
The Commissioner admonished those who abuse children and ran illicit schools in the state, describing them as criminals acting at their own risk. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
