Inyangake James Peter, 40, has been taken into custody by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command for the murder of his mother, Mma-Offiong James Peter, 70, in the state’s Etim Ekpo Local Government Area.
In a statement released on Monday, April 15, 2024, the command’s spokeswoman, CPS Odiko Macdon, stated that the command has been extremely concerned about instances in which family members have killed their biological relatives.
The suspect informed Macdon that he heard a voice telling him to kill his mother, and he did as instructed.
“The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested one Inyangake James Peter, 40 years old for gruesomely murdering his biological mother, one Mma-Offiong James Peter, about 70 years old on 4/4/2024 at about 9:00am at Ikpe Annang Village in Etim Ekpo LGA,” the statement read.
“The suspect who confessed to the crime has been transferred to the State CID for discrete investigation.
“The suspect on interrogation alleged that he had a voice saying ” kill her”, ” kill her “ and he decided to oblige.
