Agege LG Seeks Creative Partnership with Kunle Afolayan to Empower Youth

The Chairman of Agege Local Government, Ganiyu Obasa, has opened talks with veteran filmmaker Kunle Afolayan on a potential partnership aimed at empowering young creatives in the area.

Obasa, accompanied by the Vice Chairman, Council Manager, and other management team members, visited Afolayan to discuss collaborative pathways for youth development through the creative industry.

He explained that the engagement focused on building a structured platform to equip Agege youths with practical skills and create opportunities for them to pursue careers in film and other creative fields with confidence.

The chairman said the vision involves identifying promising talents within the local government, investing in their growth, and providing avenues for them to feature in professional productions.

Obasa noted that exposure to industry standards would help young creatives unlock their potential and compete both nationally and internationally.

He added that the initiative would also cover music and podcasting, describing the creative sector as a powerful driver of economic and cultural influence.

“It would have taken us years to achieve what we want, but with this partnership, it could take just months,” Obasa said.

He emphasised that the collaboration would be grounded in originality, discipline, and sustainable growth, positioning Agege youths for long-term success in the creative space.
