Hosts Cote D’Ivoire made it to the next stage as one of the best third-placed teams heading into the Round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Cape Verde and Equatorial Guinea, underdogs in their respective groups, have been outstanding, startling their more favored rivals in African football.
In the knockout phase on Saturday, the Super Eagles of Nigeria—who came in second in Group A behind giant-killing Equatorial Guinea—will take on bitter rivals Cameroon.
