In a recent development, the victims who were abducted earlier have regained their freedom.
The incident took place on Monday around 6pm when the oil workers were traveling on a private boat from Lagos Island to Lekki.
The abductors forcefully took them away in their boat, leaving behind the workers’ vessel along with their personal belongings.
Fortunately, on Sunday night, the victims were released in the Sangotedo area of Lagos State. The circumstances surrounding their release remain unclear, as it is yet to be confirmed if a ransom was paid for their freedom.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos Police Command, confirmed the release of the oil workers on Monday morning.
However, he did not provide any details regarding arrests made or any further updates on the matter. Hundeyin declined to comment further on the issue.
