9-Year-Old Boy D!es After Being Shot In The Head By Alleged Drug Dealer

In a heart-wrenching incident, a nine-year-old boy from Manenberg, Cape Town has lost his life after being shot in the head. The authorities have arrested a suspected drug dealer in connection with the tragic incident.

According to Cape Town police, investigations have revealed that the young boy knew his alleged killer. Contrary to earlier reports suggesting gang crossfire, it was determined that the fatal gunshot was fired from within the boy’s own home.

The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when chaos erupted on Towerkop Road. Frightened residents rushed the injured boy to the hospital after he was struck by a bullet while playing outside his home. Eyewitnesses and family members claim that a lone shooter targeted the children on the street.

The Grade 3 student from Easter Peak Primary, Tiano Anthony, collapsed on the pavement as the bullet pierced through his head, according to his aunt, Michelle Malgas.

After intensive investigations, Cape Town police spokesperson Captain Ian Bennett confirmed that a 34-year-old man from Tiano’s residence was taken into custody. The accused reportedly admitted to being inside the house and cleaning his firearm when the gun accidentally discharged.

Further investigations led to the arrest of another 24-year-old suspect, who was found in possession of the murder weapon, by the Anti-Gang Unit.

Sadly, Tiano Anthony passed away on Monday night. Despite undergoing a four-hour surgery and initially surviving, his condition deteriorated due to extensive brain damage. The family was called in, but the young boy’s weakened heartbeat couldn’t be sustained.

The aunt, Michelle Malgas, expressed shock upon learning about the arrests and the revelation that the shot came from inside the house. She stated that the accused was a family friend, and they were unaware of his involvement with firearms. The family had previously been informed that the shooting was carried out by an individual on the street.

Both men have been charged and are expected to appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court in the near future.
