Anne Shields, an identified grandmother, has passed on after she suffered ‘catastrophic’ injuries when the pit bull she had rescued from the street suddenly pounced on her.
The 67years Old Shields, was mauled by the dog, Pit Bull she had taken in as a starving stray, which she called Choccy, at her holiday home in Spain.
Revealing the incident, her who spoke to the newsmen said that Shields never intended to keep the dog, but the local animal shelters were full so she opted to care for him “until she found someone who could take him.”
It was noted that the British ex-pat was reportedly an animal lover and “couldn’t bear the thought of throwing Choccy back on the streets.”
Police were immediately summoned to Ms Shields’ apartment in Macastre, near Valencia, after her neighbours reported hearing her screams due to the pounce from the pit bull.
Police shot the dog so the medics could reach the pensioner who had suffered several head and arm injuries.
Shields was taken to hospital where she passed on the next day due to the injuries sustained from the attack.
