Hamisu Mamuda, 52, was detained while trying to enter Kurmawa Correctional Center in Kano State with 12 packages of dried leaves that were believed to be Indian hemp.
In a statement released on Monday, April 29, 2024, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the spokeswoman for the State Police Command, stated that the suspect tried to sneak in the narcotics with the intention of selling them to prisoners.
“On 27th April 2024, personnel of the Nigeria Correctional Service attached to Kurmawa Correctional Centre arrested one Hamisu Mamuda, ‘m’, aged 52 years of Samegu Quarters, Kumbotso LGA, Kano State in possession of twelve (12) Nylon bags of dried Leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp wrapped in his jacket in an attempt to smuggle it into Kurmawa Correctional Centre with intent to sell it to inmates,” the statement read.
“The suspect also confessed to the crime and is currently cooling his feet at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for discreet investigation
