In a significant development, at least four Boko Haram insurgents surrendered themselves to security forces during the early hours of June 2 in Kumshe, a village located in the Bama Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno state.
The surrender was accompanied by the relinquishment of two AK-47 rifles, marking a crucial blow to the notorious terrorist group.
The surrender took place as a result of ongoing military operations aimed at eradicating the menace of Boko Haram and restoring peace in the region.
Nigerian security forces have been actively engaged in counterinsurgency efforts, and this latest development is seen as a positive step towards dismantling the group’s infrastructure.
The four insurgents, whose identities have not been disclosed, voluntarily turned themselves in, expressing their desire to renounce violence and reintegrate into society.
Their decision to surrender, along with the handover of the two AK-47 rifles, is being hailed as a major breakthrough in the fight against Boko Haram.
