27-Year-Old Man Arrested By Osun Amotekun Corps For Illegal Firearms Possession

The men of Osun Amotekun Corps have apprehended a 27-year-old man identified as Lukman Oyelade on charges of illegal possession of firearms.

The arrest came about after concerned residents tipped off the authorities about Oyelade’s activities in the Ajijola Anabi Area of Ede.

Upon conducting a thorough search, the Amotekun Corps discovered a cache of weapons in the suspect’s possession.

The recovered arsenal included two long barrel guns, one locally iron-made revolver, a cut-to-size 7-round barrel gun, a local revolver, a cut-to-size 4-round barrel gun, and a locally iron-made double barrel gun.

Brig. Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi, the Commander of the Amotekun Corps, confirmed the arrest on Monday, June 26, 2023. Gen. Adewinmbi revealed that the suspect was apprehended in the dead of night following a complaint lodged by concerned residents of the area. In a startling revelation, Oyelade confessed to being involved in various criminal activities within the locality.

During the investigation, the suspect disclosed that he had stored the firearms used in his operations with a notorious thug named Taye Fumble, who operates in Ede. To ensure a comprehensive inquiry into the matter, the Amotekun Corps will hand over Oyelade to the Police for further investigation and interrogation.
