21 Dies Of Starvation As Pastor Tells Church Members To Fast To Death In Order “To Meet Jesus”

One Kenyan Pastor, Paul Mackenzie, reportedly told his followers to fast till they die so as to see Jesus.

Freshreporters had gathered that about Twenty-one bodies have been exhumed in eastern part of Kenya in an investigation into a cult whose followers are believed to have starved themselves to death, police sources revealed..

In an official report on Saturday, 22nd of April, 2023 freshreporters had noted seven deaths in connection with the inquiry after the arrest of Paul Mackenzie Nthenge, who reportedly told followers to starve themselves in order to “meet Jesus”.

“In total since yesterday, we have 21 bodies,” a police source told Agence France-Presse on condition of anonymity, after exhumations in the Shakahola forest outside the coastal town of Malindi.

“We have not even scratched the surface which gives a clear indication that we are likely to get more bodies by the end of this exercise,” the source added.

Another police source on condition of anonymity had also confirmed the same toll.

It was gathered that at least three children were among the victims who died in the course of starving to meet Jesus, said one police source.

Nthenge, who leader of the Good News International Church, landed in the police net and was charged last month, after two children reportedly starved to death in the custody of their parents.

The pastor was later released on bail of 100,000 Kenyan shillings.

Kenyan Police reported his arrest on 15th of April, 2023 after discovering the bodies of another four followers whom he reportedly told to starve themselves in order to “meet Jesus”.

The Kenyan police also on Friday revealed to the newsmen that they had exhumed three other bodies.

Eleven other followers of the Kenyan church – the youngest 17 – were taken to the nearby hospital, three of them in critical condition, after being rescued on 14th of April, 2023.

The Kenyan Police raided the forest after receiving information on the deaths of people “starving to death under the pretext of meeting Jesus after being brainwashed” by Nthenge, the Good News International Church.
