19-Year-Old Husband Fatally Shööts Wife, Then K!lls Himself at Alabama Hospital After Birth of Their First Child

A 19-year-old man fatally shot his 24-year-old wife before turning the gun on himself inside an Alabama hospital, shortly after the couple welcomed their first child.

Kynath Terry Jr. shot Precious Johnson at Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday. Johnson had given birth to a healthy baby shortly before the incident. Authorities confirmed that Terry and Johnson were the only individuals injured, though it remains unclear whether the newborn was present during the shooting.

Terry’s mother revealed that the couple had been experiencing marital issues leading up to Johnson’s due date, but she said there were no signs her son might become violent. She added that Terry had completed Army National Guard training prior to marrying Johnson.

Reports indicate that Johnson did not want Terry’s family at the hospital for the birth, and it is unknown if any of her own family members were present.
