Zamfara Governor, Lawal Pays Solidarity Visit To NYSC

Dr. Dauda Lawal, the Governor of Zamfara State, has conveyed his condolences to the National Youth Service Corps regarding the abduction of prospective corps members within his state several months ago.

The state governor expressed his feelings during a solidarity visit to the Director General of NYSC, Brig Gen YD Ahmed, at the NYSC Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, FCT shared in a statement by the Director Press and Public Relations Eddy Megwa on Thursday, 2nd of November, 2023.

Governor Lawal, deeming the abduction of these young graduates as deeply unfortunate, assured his host that his office is actively collaborating with security agencies to secure their safe release.

The state governor also reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to working closely with all security apparatus to create a secure environment for the continuous deployment of corps members within the state.

In response, the Director General of NYSC expressed his gratitude to the governor for standing in solidarity with the organization during this challenging period. He also took the opportunity to extend his appreciation to the government and the people of Zamfara State for their unwavering support of NYSC.

He particularly commended the Emir of Tsafe, His Royal Highness Alhaji Muhammadu Bawa, for his exceptional hospitality each time NYSC’s team visited his domain concerning the abductees.

Furthermore, the NYSC Director General assured his visitor of the organization’s readiness to resume deploying corps members to the state once the security situation improves.

It is worth noting that eight prospective corps members from Akwa-Ibom State were kidnapped in Zamfara State while en route to their orientation camp in Sokoto State.
