Youths in Oba, a town located in the Idemili South Council Area of Anambra State, took matters into their own hands on Friday morning, June 23, as they stormed a brothel where underage girls were reportedly working as sex workers. The establishment, said to be operated by a woman known as “Madam Ukwu Venze,” became the target of the community’s outrage.
According to gathered information, the brothel housed more than 30 minors, who were kept in separate rooms while they waited for customers to arrive and engage their services. Shockingly, these girls were revealed to be between the ages of 13 and 18 years, painting a distressing picture of child exploitation and abuse.
Among the victims, one brave girl, only 13 years old and originally from Ukpo in Anambra, spoke out about her ordeal. She shed light on the grim reality that at the end of each day, a predetermined amount of money was handed over to the brothel’s owner as a commission, further highlighting the exploitative nature of the operation.
Furthermore, allegations have surfaced suggesting that the brothel was involved in other illicit activities, including child trafficking and drug peddling. This grave revelation has added fuel to the public’s fury, intensifying calls for immediate action to be taken against those responsible for such heinous crimes.
The courageous actions of the local youths who exposed this disturbing situation shed light on a dark underbelly within the community.
