The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has honoured teachers across the country in celebration of World Teachers’ Day 2024.
Tinubu, a former teacher, acknowledged the vital role teachers play in shaping lives and improving education.
She emphasised the importance of teachers’ insights in developing curricula and reforms, calling them ’the shapers and moulders of lives.’
This was made known in a statement by the First lady, Oluremi Tinubu on her verified twitter handle on Saturday, 5th of October, 2024.
The statement reads:
“Today, I join in celebrating World Teachers’ Day 2024, with the theme “Valuing Teacher Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education”.
“As a teacher myself and lover of the profession, the contributions of teachers are unquantifiable. The teachers’ insights are critical for influencing the development of curricula that enhance the quality of education and make reforms more successful. Teachers are the shapers and moulders of lives.
“To the child’s first teachers, the parents, grandparents, guardians and all school teachers, I salute you. Guy Kawasaki, the Japanese-American Author, “If you have to put someone on a pedestal, put teachers. They are society’s heroes”.
“You shape and influence destinies, and can never tell where your influence stops.
