Kelvin Kiptum, the world marathon record holder, is said to have passed away in a car crash in Kenya.
His coach, Gervais Hakizimana, was also killed in the fatal crash, according to Kenyan news source The Standard Digital (via Times Now News).
According to the report, the incident happened on Eldoret-Kaptagat road in the southwest region of the country claimed the life of the 24-year-old.
The athlete was driving a Toyota Premio with his Rwandese coach Gervais Hakizimana and a third occupant identified as Sharon Kosgey. Kiptum and his coach died on the spot while Kosgey was rushed to hospital.
Reports has it that the area traffic commandant Dennis Muga has confirmed that the bodies have been moved to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
