Hajara Yusuf, a woman, was charged on Wednesday, April 24, in Yola, Adamawa State’s Chief Magistrate Court 2 for allegedly dousing a man with hot cooking oil worth more than N100.
Hajara appeared in court before Magistrate Musa Alhaji Adamu to answer to the charge of intentionally inflicting Adamu Abubakar, her victim, great pain over the specified sum of money.
The defendant, who is from the Lakare village in Yola South LGA, Adamawa State, acknowledged committing the horrible act during cross-examination.
The presiding court sent the matter to the police command’s Criminal inquiry Department (CID) for inquiry due to the seriousness of the offense and the extent of the injuries.
On April 22, 2024, Hajara doused her victim with boiling cooking oil while they conversed about N100—the victim’s order for soy bean cake.
The victim, who is also from Lakare, hit the woman who was cooking the cake after they got into a disagreement over how much money needed.
The defendant provocatively burned the victim’s neck, chest, and back by carrying her cooking pan filled with hot groundnut oil and pouring it over his body. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
