In a shocking and distressing incident, a woman and her two children were discovered dead inside an apartment at 40000 Inglewood Common, according to authorities. The harrowing discovery was made on Monday afternoon when the Fremont Police Department responded to a distress call from within the residence.
The identity of the deceased woman was confirmed by her devastated cousin, Frank Garcia, who identified her as Evelyn Garcia. Evelyn, along with her two young children—a 1-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl—had recently relocated to the Inglewood Common apartments from Guatemala, living with their father for the past four months. Frank Garcia, overcome with grief, described Evelyn as being like a sister to him.
The news has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving both neighbors and law enforcement officers deeply affected by the tragedy. Lieutenant Paul McCormick of the Fremont Police Department acknowledged the emotional impact this case has had, particularly given the involvement of young individuals. “Any kind of case like this, where you have young individuals involved, it’s traumatic for everybody. For the officers too, because many of the officers that responded today are parents themselves, and so it does have an impact,” he stated.
Neighbors, who were left in disbelief, reported seeing the woman and her children playing in the yard earlier on the day of the incident. Their sudden and tragic deaths have left the community in shock and mourning, as they struggle to come to terms with the unimaginable loss.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths is currently ongoing. Law enforcement officials have refrained from speculating on the cause of death, stating that they are keeping all possibilities open. Lieutenant McCormick assured the public that updates would be provided as soon as more information becomes available and when it is deemed appropriate to disclose it.
As the community of Fremont grapples with this devastating loss, thoughts and condolences are extended to the family and friends affected by this heart-wrenching incident.
