One video that went viral on social media platforms on Sunday showed the demolition of houses at Rockview, Ajao Estate, Lagos State.
A female resident was heard crying when the demolition was ongoing, stating that she couldn’t bring out her property from the rubble.
She said,
“They have demolished my house.”
“I was in the hospital, they just called me that they’ve started demolishing our house. They are demolishing the whole street o. “
“They just came and started demolishing our house. Jesus, I couldn’t bring out my properties.”
Gbolahan Oki, the General Manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency, during a press briefing on Friday, while speaking on the demolition, said some houses close to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport lacked the necessary building permits from relevant agencies.
