Jennifer Diala, one hair vendor, of the Jaynato Hair brand, has released a statement following the backlash received over a trending video that saw her cutting part of an Asian girl’s hair for sale.
Freshreporters media had gathered from a video, which surfaced on X Tuesday, 7th of November, 2023, Diala was filmed cutting a Vietnamese child’s hair while celebrating the act.
Not long after the video was published, it went viral, attracting backlash.
Taking her Instagram handle on Tuesday, Diala released a video explaining her act.
According to the hair vendor, she has been in this business for ten years, and nothing she did in the viral video was a problem.
Diala continued, saying it was strictly business, while her partner in the video explained that these ‘raw hair donors’ are paid for their donation.
“Most of the people who viewed the video claimed I abused a child,” Diala began.
She added, “It’s starting to bother me as I do not understand why people do not ask questions before they jump to conclusions. I am here to debunk the claims online.
“In Vietnam, 80% of people live by selling hair; that is what they do for a living here.
“Nigerians do not have hair; most black people suffer from hair problems, so people like us went into this business to beautify people, and I don’t think that’s a problem.
“I personally have been in this business for ten years and have sourced hair in multiple countries, including India, China, Cambodia, Vietnam and even Indonesia. I have been on tour, studying hair business, and it’s been many years of experience.
“I did not bump into anyone and cut her hair. The child’s mother brought the child to cut her hair, as they were already making plans to cut the hair.”
Diala urged Nigerians to seek more information before calling people out.
“We are here for business, and it is strictly business. For everything we have done in the process of coming here, it’s been exchanged for money; nothing is free.
“I thought to take advantage of the situation when the girl’s mother brought her here so I could educate fellow Nigerians,” Diala said. [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
