The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has dismissed allegations Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, is connected to bandits, explaining that is why he was retained as Minister.
President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday, 23rd of October, 2024 sacked five Ministers in a major restructuring aimed at improving government operations.
Matawalle had rejected claims by Zamfara Governor Dauda Lawal that he is involved in banditry in the region.
Lawal challenged Matawalle to voluntarily step down to address accusations of banditry sponsorship and money laundering during his tenure as Governor.
However, speaking on the issue, Onanuga during an interview with Arise TV, on Thursday, the 24th of October, 2024, disclosed that those allegations were untrue as most of them had been probed by the NSA office.
He said:
“As far as I know, most of those things are just mere allegations. One of them I got and sent to the National Security Adviser (NSA), and he said he has probed a lot of those things and they are not correct.
“People are just bringing out all kinds of fake things, allegations about someone and that’s why the man is there. Even the President, I’m sure has heard so many stories about him, and as I said for him to be there, most of those things have been probed and are found not to be true.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>>
