The Merriam Webster Dictionary has announced that ‘gaslighting’ is their most searches word for the year 2022.
The well-known dictionary said that gaslighting is “the act or practice of grossly misleading someone especially for one’s own advantage.”
According to a statement released by the dictionary on Monday, it said that the interest in the word was up by 1,740% over the previous years according to searches of the online dictionary.
It also noted other words with high search rates which includes, ‘oligarch,’ ‘codify,’ ‘LGBTAQIA,’ ’sentient,’ ‘omicron,’ ‘queen consort,’ and others.
