The chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Dr. Zacch Adedeji, has assured the service will deploy technology to block leakages in revenue collection in 2025.
Adedeji stated that there are leakages because several government agencies collect revenues.
The FIRS chairman claimed that a single revenue-collection agency is responsible for collecting revenue in other countries, but Nigeria has more than 62 agencies collecting revenues one way or the other on behalf of the Federal Government.
Talking about how the service intends to address the leakages, Adedeji said:
“We’ll focus more on training, using of technology, and have conducive environment. So when we have this, blocking of leakages comes from having implementable loss.
“Because why you see people going away with our revenue is because there are lapses in the law. And with the wisdom of Mr President who sent the bill to the National Assembly, hopefully the bill will be passed this quarter. So it’s our strategy to block all identified loopholes and the use of technology.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
