We Want Reversal Of Fuel Subsidy Removal, Says NLC; Meets President Tinubu At State House

The Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress, Dr Oguguo Egwu, on Wednesday, 2nd of August, 2023 while addressing members and civil society organisations in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, said they were protesting the removal of fuel subsidy by the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu government.

Speaking in the video, he said in part,

“Comrades, we are here at the centre of Abakaliki town, we are here at the Udensi Roundabout to spend some seconds to hear ourselves so that we will know that this is not a protest march against any individual, it is a protest march against the oppression of the ruling class.

“It is a protest against the wickedness from the ruling class that we cannot afford to take ourselves to work; that we cannot afford one square meal; that we cannot have basic necessities of life because their knee is on our neck.

“Our people, we are here because we need to let them know that they need to do everything possible to reverse the high price of PMS. They should do everything possible to reverse the increment of school fees in federal institutions.”

The NLC had given the government a seven-day ultimatum with threats of a nationwide strike scheduled to commence on Wednesday, 2nd of August, 2023.

Meanwhile, the organised Nigeria Labour Congress National Executives comprising of the Trade Union Congress, TUC alongside, met with the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu today to discuss the lingering matters. [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>
