Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Dakar, Senegal, where he will represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the country’s 65th Independence Day celebrations.
Senegal marks its Independence Day on April 4 each year, commemorating its 1960 liberation from French colonial rule with parades, ceremonies, and cultural events.
According to a statement from Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), Shettima is attending the event at the invitation of Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, reflecting the strong ties between both nations.
The celebrations will take place at Place de la Nation in Dakar, with President Faye hosting Shettima and other dignitaries from Africa and beyond.
