Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, to officially flag off the Arise Human Capital Development (HCD) strategic plan and the local government human capital development implementation roadmap.
The initiative under the broader agenda of President Bola Tinubu aims to strengthen Nigeria’s workforce and improve socio-economic outcomes nationwide.
The Vice President received a warm welcome at Victor Attah International Airport, where he was greeted by Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno, along with senior government officials and key stakeholders from the development sector, before proceeding to the State Government House.
In attendance at the event were high-profile dignitaries including the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President (Office of the Vice President), Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia; Special Adviser to the President on General Duties (Office of the Vice President), Aliyu Modibbo Umar; Special Adviser to the President on NEC and Climate Change as well as National Coordinator for Human Capital Development in Nigeria, Rukaiya El-Rufai; and Nathaniel Adiakpan, Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Human Capital Development Council.
The Vice President who also doubles as the Chairman of the National Economic Council (NEC) and the Steering Committee on Human Capital Development in Nigeria, including model primary healthcare centres, model primary schools, compassionate homes, a skill acquisition centre, and the Arise Park.

The statement partly reads:
