The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed that social critic Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), will soon be charged to court.
EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, in an interview with BBC News Pidgin, said VDM was arrested following multiple petitions alleging cyberstalking.
“We arrested him to respond to a series of allegations raised against him by some petitioners. We will release him when he meets the bail conditions and we will take the case to court as soon as possible. We are law-abiding,” he stated.
When asked if the case had anything to do with Guaranty Trust Bank, Oyewale clarified that the petitions came from different individuals and emphasized that the EFCC owes petitioners a duty of protection.
Freshreporters media had reported that VDM was arrested on Friday by EFCC operatives over an undisclosed offense. His arrest came shortly after he revealed plans to visit a GTBank branch in Abuja to report an alleged deduction from his mother’s account.
