Police in Anniston are launching an investigation following the tragic discovery of a woman who was shot dead on Monday afternoon.
The incident unfolded when the Anniston Police Department received a distress call reporting an unconscious woman located within a residence on the 300 block of Elm Street.
Responding swiftly to the scene, law enforcement officers discovered the lifeless body of 29-year-old Jasmine Nicole Whitson, a resident of Anniston, who had sustained a gunshot wound. Tragically, medical professionals on-site pronounced her dead upon arrival.
At present, the police have not identified any suspects related to this heinous crime. Authorities are urging anyone with information pertaining to the case to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
