The United States Mission to Nigeria has announced that the U.S. government will launch an investigation into how previously allocated aid to Nigeria and other countries has been utilized.
To ensure accountability, comprehensive monitoring and evaluation systems have been implemented to verify that U.S. assistance reaches its intended beneficiaries.
The U.S. also reaffirmed its stance against terrorism, strongly condemning the violence and disregard for human life perpetrated by Boko Haram and other extremist groups in Nigeria and the surrounding region.
Boko Haram was officially designated a Foreign Terrorist Organization by the U.S. Secretary of State on November 14, 2013. This classification aimed to block the group’s assets, disrupt its fundraising activities, prosecute its members, and impose travel restrictions to the U.S.
