Prof. Oluwa Toyin Ogundipe, the University of Lagos, UNILAG, vice-chancellor, has expressed concern about the high monthly bills to the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), in the university.
The VC speaking in an interview stated that in the month of March, the university paid N122 million bill to the PHCN company as monthly due for the main campus and School of Radiography, Yaba Lagos State.
According to him: “The high monthly bill from PHCN is something that is worrisome to the university. We are working on the independent power plant.The March PHCN bill doesn’t include the College of Medicine at Idi Araba.”
Prof. Ogundipe added that in the last year, the university paid the bill of N1.4 billion for electricity and In every year each, the electricity bill gets skyrocketing and it is worrisome.
