Unidentified Man Arrested For Robbing People With A Fake Gun

The Lagos State Police have successfully apprehended an individual who has been targeting innocent victims using a fake gun. The arrest was confirmed by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, in a Twitter post shared on Wednesday.

While the suspect employed a fake gun during the robberies, SP Benjamin Hundeyin emphasized that he would still face charges equivalent to those for possessing a real firearm, in accordance with the law. The severity of the charges aims to deter individuals from engaging in criminal activities with any kind of weapon, real or imitation.

To accompany the announcement, SP Benjamin Hundeyin shared a photograph of the arrested suspect, stating, “He was caught robbing people with this fake gun, but he will face the law like he used the real McCoy.”

Furthermore, Hundeyin shared a screenshot of the law that addresses this issue, highlighting its seriousness. The law states, “(3) Any person found in any public place in possession of any firearms whether real or imitation and in circumstances reasonably indicating that the possession of the firearms is with intent to the immediate or eventual commission by that person or any other person of any offence under section 1 of this Act or under the foregoing provisions of this section shall upon conviction under this Act be sentenced to imprisonment for not less than fourteen years but not more than twenty years.”
