“Unthinkable: Two-Year-Old Sentenced to Life Imprisonment in North Korea for Owning a Bible”

A deeply disturbing incident has come to light in North Korea, where a mere 2-year-old sentenced to life imprisonment simply for being found in possession of a Bible.

According to reliable sources, both the toddler and his entire family were apprehended and incarcerated following the discovery of the Christian holy book within the confines of their home. This egregious act underscores the extreme measures taken by the North Korean authorities to suppress religious freedom.

The International Religious Freedom Report, compiled by the United States Department, has shed light on similar cases of persecution against North Korean citizens due to their Christian faith.

The report chillingly mentions an instance from 2011 when a woman and her grandchild were mercilessly executed by a firing squad.

The publication further reveals a distressing pattern of punishments imposed upon individuals who profess Christianity within the country.

One such method, referred to as “pigeon torture,” involves suspending the arrested individuals with their hands bound behind their backs, rendering them unable to sit or stand for extended periods.

Those subjected to this excruciating torment have described it as the most agonizing of all tortures, often contemplating death as a preferable alternative.

The report also exposes the torment inflicted through sleep deprivation, recounting the heart-wrenching story of a woman held in solitary confinement.

Driven to despair in 2020, she tragically took her own life after prison guards callously denied her the basic human need for sleep.

The recorded statistics paint a grim picture, revealing that an alarming number of Christians, estimated at over 70,000, have been unjustly imprisoned under President Kim Jong-un’s regime, despite the country’s approximate population of 400,000.

The publication further discloses that many North Korean Christians are compelled to conceal their faith from their own children, fearing the severe repercussions of practicing their religion openly.

The dire situation unfolding in North Korea serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of religious freedom and the need to address human rights violations in the country.

Such flagrant disregard for basic liberties should not go unnoticed or unchallenged by the international community.
