Two nabbed as NSCDC uncovers illegal car lubricant production factory in Oyo state

The Oyo State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC revealed it has discovered a factory where adulterated and fake Automated Transmission Fluids, grease engine oil and other varieties of car lubricants are produced in the state.

It was gathered that one One Patrick Umeh of age 57, and one 41-year-old Adegoke Sunday were nabbed at the factory located at Gbekuba area in Ibadan, the state’s capital.

The sealing of the production site was carried out by the NSCDC Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad following an intelligence tip-off.

NSCDC’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Babawale Afolabi, in a statement in Abuja on Thursday said:

“The production location is very remote and deceptive because the so called company was located inside a residential house, which does not meet the industrial standard.

This is where the production, packaging and sales as established brand lubricants to unsuspecting oil users takes place.”

Meanwhile, while speaking with journalists, the owner of the illegal factory, Umeakuna said though he had been running the factory for over twenty years it was not licensed.

Umeakuna explained that he visited some stakeholders a few years ago to register the company but met with some obstacles which made the factory remain unregistered.

“I started this factory when this place (Gbekuba) was a forest but it was unfortunate that developments met with it which made people to be suspicious of the place.

I have another company in Mowe, Ogun State where I produced engine oil and other lubricants but was legally registered”. [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>
