Two Abducted Catholic Priest, One Found Dead, Other Escape In Kaduna

Two of the Catholic priests that were abducted by kidnappers in Kaduna State on Friday last week, one of them has been killed.

The statement issued out revealed that the Fr. John mark who was killed by the kidnappers was the CAN chairman at Jama’s local government.

Freshreporters had learnt that Rev. Fr. Donatus Cleophas Sulaiman, one of the priest has escaped from the hands of his kidnappers while Rev. Fr. John Mark Cheitnum, has been killed.

According to a statement issued out on Tuesday, 19th of July, 2022, the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan said Cheitnum was killed the same day he was abducted and his decomposing body was recovered yesterday.

The statement reads partly, “Fr. John Mark who was abducted from the rectory of Christ the King Parish Yadin Garu, Lere L.G.A of Kaduna State, was brutally killed by his abductors on the same day of his abduction; Friday 15th July, 2022. His corpse was later discovered already decomposing on Tuesday 19th July, 2022.

“Until his demise he was the CAN Chairman, Jama’a LGA as well as the Coordinating Chairman of CAN, Southern Kaduna. Fr. was the Dean of Kwoi Deanery, Director of Communications in the Diocese of Kafanchan and the Pastor of St. James Parish Fori, Jama’a LGA, Kaduna State.”

Freshreporters had also learnt that deceased is said to be buried on Thursday this week.
