Tunde Onakoya, the new Guinness World Record holder for the longest unbroken chess marathon, was met with a hero’s welcome upon his return to Nigeria after setting an incredible record in the US.
He was greeted warmly at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos when he returned to Nigeria on Wednesday.
In 2018, two Norwegians, Hallvard Haug Flatebo and Sjur Ferkingstad, beat the record by playing chess for 56 hours and nine minutes, along with American chess champion Shawn Martinez.
He stated that his goal was to raise $1 million for the education of underprivileged children in Africa in addition to breaking the record. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
