U.S. President Donald Trump has announced the launch of a large-scale military offensive, code-named “Operation Epic Fury,” targeting multiple sites across Iran.
In a statement, Trump said the operation struck facilities linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and Iranian air defence systems, with U.S. forces hitting strategic targets within a 36-hour window.
He claimed that several naval assets were destroyed and alleged that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, along with senior members of the country’s military leadership, had been killed. Independent confirmation of these claims was not immediately available.
Trump stated that combat operations are ongoing and will continue until U.S. objectives are achieved. He also suggested that some Iranian officials had reportedly sought immunity and signaled interest in surrendering.
The United States Central Command confirmed that three U.S. service members were killed during the operation. Trump extended condolences to their families and acknowledged the possibility of further casualties as operations continue.
According to the President, the offensive is aimed at preventing Iran from developing or acquiring long-range missile and nuclear capabilities. He reiterated his administration’s position that Iran poses a security threat and pledged continued military action to protect U.S. interests.
