Troops Raid and Déstroy Térrorist Camp in Kogi Operation

Troops from the Nigerian Army’s 12 Brigade have dismantled a terrorist hideout in Kogi State during Operation IGBO IDANU I, dealing a major blow to a network allegedly tied to suspected kingpins Kachalla Ibrahim and Shu’aibu.

Led by Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi, Commander of 12 Brigade, the operation saw troops navigate dense forests, challenging terrain, and swampy areas, overcoming obstacles such as fallen trees and marshy ground.

To preserve tactical surprise, the soldiers reportedly dismounted and advanced on foot deep into the suspected enclave. According to the Army, the terrorists fled immediately upon sighting the approaching forces.

A thorough search of the camp resulted in the recovery of significant arms and ammunition, including eight boxes of 7.62 x 54 link ammunition, each containing 250 rounds bandoliers, and one box of high-velocity grenades.

The Nigerian Army noted that the seizure severely weakened the group’s firepower and logistics. The camp was subsequently razed to prevent any future reoccupation.

Patrols and offensive actions have been intensified in the area to track fleeing suspects, thwart regrouping attempts, and sustain military pressure.

The Army reaffirmed that the mission is part of its broader strategy to clear terrorist strongholds, safeguard civilian populations, and restore lasting peace and security in the region.
