Troops Overrun Boko Haram/ISWAP Stronghold, Seize Cache of Ammunition

In an offensive operation on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, Nigerian Army Troops, accompanied by a hybrid force and a portion of the Civilian Joint Task Force, successfully overran the stronghold of Boko Haram/Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in the Timbuktu triangle in the Lake Chad Region.

Following a fierce battle with the insurgents, they recovered a Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle, a gun truck equipped with an anti-aircraft gun, and a cache of weapons and ammunition.

Throughout the operation, rebels used motorbikes, mortars, vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (VBIEDs), and gun trucks to attack the troops. However, the troops’ overwhelming superior firepower forced the rebels to flee, leaving their stronghold, weapons, and equipment in a state of disorder.

The brave soldiers killed three terrorists and seized an MRAP, a gun truck, an AK-47 rifle, a Dushka machine gun, and a locally made gun.

Additionally, one pumping machine, 65 Dushka links, 48 General Purpose Machine Gun links, three motorbikes, two73 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition, and one Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) Bomb were taken by the troops. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
