Three ISWAP terrorists who were enforcing Zakkat Levies on Maltari Village near Kukareta in Borno State were slain on Sunday by the forces of Sector 2 Operation Hadin Kai.
Sources familiar with the incident said the terrorists met their Waterloo during a gunfight with the troops.
According to the sources, at around 4:00 am in the morning on Sunday, February 18, 2024, terrorist elements were spotted in Maltari Village, close to Kukareta, where they were allegedly forcing local residents to pay zakat levies.
He claimed that a special patrol to the area was assigned to a fighting patrol from Sector 2 Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai, which was stationed at Forward Operating Base Kukareta in conjunction with Yobe state Hunters group.
Three terrorists were engaged and naturalized by the military after the team made contact with the terrorist group close to Lawanti village.
The patrol also recovered two Ak47 rifles with two magazines containing 16 rounds of 7.62MM special, two hand grenades and one motorcycle.
The nutrialised terrorists are believed to be part of the group that attacked troops camp at Kukareta on Sunday 4th February 2024.
