Troops Neutralise Bandits In Mangu, Plateau State (Photos)

Troops from Operation SAFE HAVEN demonstrated their efficiency and commitment to maintaining peace in Mangu Local Government Area (LGA) as they successfully neutralized a group of bandits today, 12th July 2023.

The troops were responding to a distress call when they encountered an ambush along Road Mangun – Pushit – Mangu.

The bandits, believed to be instigators of unrest in the area, targeted the combat team. However, the troops displayed their professionalism and decisiveness by swiftly clearing the ambush.

In the process, three of the bandits were neutralized, and the troops recovered valuable items including three AK-47 rifles, 14 rounds of 7.62 Special rounds, one motorcycle, and a Constabulary Police ID card.

Despite some of the assailants managing to escape with gunshot wounds, the operation can be considered a success.

Major General AE Abubakar, the Commander of Operation SAFE HAVEN and General Officer Commanding 3 Armoured Division, reiterated the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to fulfilling its mandate within the confines of the law. He emphasized that the protection of citizens’ lives and property remains of utmost importance.

In line with this commitment, the headquarters of Operation SAFE HAVEN has been redeployed to Mangu LGA, ensuring prompt responses to all distress calls.

Several combat teams have also been dispatched to remote areas within the local government to bolster rapid response capabilities.
