Troops Intercept N37m Hidden in “Ghana Must Go” Sàck in Borno

Troops conducting operations under Operation HADIN KAI have intercepted five individuals transporting approximately N37 million under suspicious circumstances in Borno State.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the suspects were travelling in a red Volkswagen Golf wagon (registration MNG…XA) heading toward Magumeri when they were flagged down at a routine checkpoint. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of the large sum of money concealed inside a “Ghana must go” sack and several other bags.

Preliminary statements from the two women and three men revealed they were unaware of the exact amount they were carrying. They later claimed the cash was meant for distribution to beneficiaries of a non-governmental organisation.

Authorities also recovered about 10 assorted mobile phones from the suspects during the operation.
