Troops Arrest 65-Year-Old Woman for Allegedly Supplying Drûgs to Bokö Háram in North-East

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a 65-year-old woman, Hauwa Abulazeez, on allegations of supplying drugs to Boko Haram fighters in Nigeria’s North-East. She was apprehended in Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State on January 23, 2026, following intelligence reports.

According to the military, Abulazeez is suspected of being a key distributor of cannabis sativa to terrorist elements across several communities. She is also believed to be instrumental in transporting the substance within the region. Preliminary investigations indicate the drugs were sourced from the Sarti Baruwa area of Taraba State and moved through established supply routes.

During the arrest, troops recovered 14 compressed blocks of cannabis weighing approximately 30 kilogrammes. The military described the seizure as a major operation aimed at disrupting resources used to sustain criminal and terrorist activities.

The suspect is currently in military custody and undergoing further investigation. Follow-up operations are ongoing to dismantle the wider trafficking network she is allegedly part of.
