Tribunal: ‘Try again in 2027’, Oyetola tells Obi, Atiku says ‘Tinubu’s victory is permanent’

Adegboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, has predicted that the Supreme Court will affirm President Bola Tinubu’s victory at the February 25 presidential poll, should his opponents, Peter Obi of Labour Party, LP and Atiku Abubakar of People’s Democratic Party, PDP take the judgement of the President Election Petition Tribunal to the apex court.

Oyetola made this known while speaking in his hometown, Iragbiji, Osun State on Saturday, 9th of September, 2023 at a reception held in his honour by the community, following his recent appointment as a minister under Tinubu’s led regime.

The ex- Osun State Governor, who commended organisers of the event, said politics should be devoid of violence and called for unity of purpose to achieve success.

Speaking in Yoruba language, Oyetola said, “I want to congratulate the President (Bola Tinubu) on his victory at the Tribunal which I know is permanent. If they like, they should take the matter to a court that is higher than the Supreme Court, the judgment by the judges is so powerful and clear. They should wait for another four years, they can repeat the class that they have failed.”

Revealing his plans as a Minister, Oyetola, expressed a desire to ensure that the country maximises its potential in fishing.

“I want to appreciate God for my appointment as Minister of Marine and Blue Economy. When I was younger, I used to go to the river to catch fish. I love to eat fish too. I can see some of my friends that were doing that with me then. At that time, we were not doing fishing as it should be done, because we used hooks that time.

“Foreigners are the ones catching our fish now and they take to neighbouring countries to sell. We have not done enough to maximise our potential in that area.

“In western countries, they do build houses by the riverside because they want to fish. We have refused to tap into the potential we have as a country in fishing. I have realized that there is the possibility of economic gains in that area. We are going to turn it around for our gain as a country”, Oyetola concluded. [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
