Soldiers from the 6 Division, teaming up with other security forces, have shut down 29 illegal refining sites, arrested 24 oil thieves, destroyed 14 boats used in crude theft, and recovered more than 700,000 liters of stolen fuel across the Niger Delta region.
Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, acting Deputy Director for 6 Division Army Public Relations, shared that troops also seized a wooden boat loaded with over 150,000 liters of stolen crude around Kula in Akuku-Toru, Rivers State, arresting six suspects on the spot.
Elsewhere, troops intercepted another boat carrying over 50,000 liters of crude oil, shut down three illegal refining sites, and uncovered massive cooking pots holding over 20,000 liters of stolen diesel.
Likewise, in the Kay and Abesa areas of Akuku-Toru, they destroyed 10 more illegal refining sites and confiscated over 400,000 liters of illegally processed diesel.
In Bayelsa State, down by Boma Creek in Southern Ijaw, troops dismantled two illegal sites, seized a storage tank with more than 2,500 liters of stolen crude, and intercepted two more boats loaded with stolen fuel.
Over at Obughene Creek, they took down an illegal site holding about 4,500 liters of stolen crude. In West Boma Creek, another site was demolished, and 3,000 liters of pilfered fuel were recovered.
The report added that in Akwa Ibom State, troops stopped two Toyota Camrys with plate numbers AYB 704 FQ and KY 379 EB, each packed with illegally refined diesel hidden in 60 and 25 nylon bags, respectively. The combined haul amounted to over 3,000 liters, with the suspects and cars taken into custody.
Additionally, another Toyota Camry with the plate number KTS 277 LN was caught loaded with 30 bags of refined diesel in Ikot. The driver was arrested on the spot…[READ MORE HERE]>>>
