President Bola Tinubu will attend Mahamat Déby’s inauguration as the president of Chad.
Tinubu will travel from Abuja to N’Djamena, the capital city of Chad, on Thursday and will return after the event, according to a statement released by presidential spokeswoman Ajuri Ngelale on Wednesday.
Ngelale stated that Tinubu will travel with other high-ranking government officials.
The constitutional council announced Déby, the interim president of Chad, as the victor of the May 6 presidential election last week.
The country’s political shift from military control to democracy came to reality with the election.
The council rejected the challenges of two candidates, former prime minister Albert Padacké and prime minister Succès Masra, and declared Déby the winner.
The head of the Constitutional Council, Jean-Bernard Padare, stated that Déby secured a win that will prolong his family’s long-standing dominance with 61 percent of the vote. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
