Tinubu Returns To Nigeria After Diplomatic Visits To Saint Lucia, Brazil

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu returned to Abuja on July 13, 2025 concluding a two-nation tour that included Saint Lucia a Caribbean nation) and Brazil, where he attended the 17th BRICS Summit.

His return was confirmed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga via social media.

On June 29 to July 4, 2025, Tinubu engaged in state visits met with Caribbean leaders under the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and discussed economic partnerships, climate resilience, and cultural exchange. He also addressed the Saint Lucian Parliament and explored educational collaborations

He visited Brazil from July 5 to July 7, 2025) Attended the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, focusing on Global South cooperation, sustainable governance, and economic partnerships. He held bilateral talks with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on trade, infrastructure financing, and agricultural innovation.

He was welcomed at the Presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja by Atiku Bagudu, minister for budget and economic planning; Ibrahim Masari; Aliyu Wamakko; Bello Matawalle, minister for defence, and Nuhu Ribadu, national security adviser.

Discussions included regional security collaboration (e.g., Congo crisis), renewable energy, and agricultural technology.

While some Nigerians praised the diplomatic outreach, others critiqued the frequency of Tinubu’s foreign trips his 41st trip since 2023
